Dining and entertainment parameters

This page explains the dining and entertainment group used in the index. The group records four published items for each physical casino hotel: restaurant count or named venues, bars, theatre or showroom capacity, and convention capacity. If a venue does not publish a number or named facility, the table says not published.

What is counted

The dining and entertainment group is one of the five scoring groups described in the method and weights. It covers published information that a reader can verify before sending a booking query: restaurants, bars, theatre or showroom capacity, and convention capacity.

Restaurant data is treated in two ways. Where the resort publishes a count, that count is recorded. Where it publishes named venues but no count, the names are recorded and the count is not inferred unless the FACTS block gives a counted list. For example, Crown Melbourne has a listed count of 24 restaurants, while Wrest Point publishes five named dining venues.

Bars are handled in the same way. A published list is accepted as a list; a missing list is recorded as not published. Theatre and showroom entries require either a named venue or a published capacity. If a page lists shows without a venue capacity, the table records that limitation. Convention capacity is scored from published room capacities, ballroom seating, or a clear statement that capacities are not printed.

This guide does not rank the properties by itself. The group contributes to the total score shown on scores by group, and the full parameter grid is on the 30-parameter table.

Dining and entertainment table

The table below uses only the values in the FACTS block. “Not published” means the resort does not publish the item in the available source set, or the FACTS block records it as null. Secondary-source figures are marked where relevant.

How to read capacity entries

Theatre and convention figures are not interchangeable. A theatre capacity usually describes a seated auditorium or showroom. Convention capacity may describe a ballroom, event centre, plenary hall or combined meeting space. Where a venue publishes several room layouts, the largest relevant published figure is shown with context rather than converted into a new number.

Crown Perth publishes Crown Theatre seating for up to 2,260 people, while its events list names venues but does not print capacities. Wrest Point publishes both Showroom and Tasman Room figures, including combined theatre-style seating for up to 1650 guests with Plenary Hall. The Star Brisbane publishes an Event Centre figure in deeper venue facts, but the roster convention entry also records the ballroom figure as secondary where taken from Wikipedia.

Some properties list entertainment but not a capacity. Country Club Tasmania lists shows, but the venue name and capacity are not printed. Reef Hotel Casino lists BAR36 as a live-music venue and shows, but no capacity. Those entries remain less complete than properties with published seat counts.

Source quality and blanks

Each cell follows the same transparency rule used across the site: a blank or null fact is not filled from memory. A published official venue page is preferred. If the FACTS block marks a figure as secondary, medium or low confidence, that note is carried through in the wording.

This matters for venues with partial publication. The Star Gold Coast has a theatre capacity from Wikipedia, marked secondary, while its bars are not published in the available set. Mindil Beach Casino Resort publishes named restaurants and bars, but no theatre or convention capacity figure. The Ville publishes named restaurants and bars and states that function spaces fit gatherings of any size or style, but gives no figures.

The table is intended to support comparison, not to describe a full night out. For hotel facilities, use the separate hotel parameters and leisure parameters. For movement, parking and hours, use the access parameters.

query the index

Dates, headcount and the parameters that matter to you. The desk checks rates and availability with the hotel or a booking partner and replies by email, usually within one working day. No payment details are taken.

The index is free to read and is funded by hotel referrals: if a reader opens a hotel's site from here and books, or asks the query desk to arrange a stay, the publisher receives a commission from the hotel or a booking partner. Scores are computed from published facts, never from commission.
