What the desk records

The index records published information about ten Australian casino-hotel properties. The roster is fixed for this edition: Crown Melbourne, Crown Perth, Crown Sydney, The Star Gold Coast, The Star Brisbane, Wrest Point, Country Club Tasmania, Mindil Beach Casino Resort, Reef Hotel Casino in Cairns and The Ville Resort-Casino in Townsville.

The comparison is hotel-led. It covers rooms, opening year, pools, spa, gym, restaurants, bars, theatre capacity, convention capacity, waterfront or golf setting, airport distance, local transport, parking, check-in, pets, accessibility, hours, loyalty and transparency. The full scoring structure is set out in the method and weights, and the values are shown in the 30-parameter table.

A field is used only when it is published in the source set. If a property does not publish a figure, the cell is marked not published. The desk does not estimate room totals, capacity, distances, parking rates or venue counts. Where a figure comes from a secondary source, the profile says so.

Source dating and corrections

Facts in this edition are tied to the source date in the working file. The current roster sheet is dated 2026-10-23. Some venue pages, regulator pages and secondary sources change without notice, so each profile treats the published value as a dated observation rather than a permanent claim.

Closures and licence changes are included where the source set records them. For example, Treasury Brisbane closed on 25 August 2024 and is not part of the active index. The Star Brisbane is treated as the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane casino hotel in the Queensland roster. State rules, regulator names and help-line references are handled separately on the by state page.

If a reader finds a changed hotel page, missing official figure or broken source link, the useful correction is specific: property name, parameter, source URL and date seen. The desk can then decide whether the change affects the profile, the comparison table or the scores by group.

Independence and earning model

The index is editorial. Houses are not able to buy a rank, a score or a parameter value. The ranking follows the published method: hotel, leisure, dining and entertainment, access and transparency groups combine to a total out of 100.

The site may earn through hotel-booking referrals or through the desk when a reader asks for a room check. That commercial route is described on how this site earns. It does not alter whether a parameter is counted as published or not published.

The site does not offer online casino play. Australia bans online casino services under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, and the venues covered here are physical buildings. Casino floors are described only as part of the property and its published rules.

How to contact the desk

For a room enquiry, use the query the desk page. The form is intended for dates, headcount, preferred property and any practical requirements, such as accessible room needs or parking. The desk checks availability by email where possible; it does not ask for card details.

For editorial contact, send the same kind of precise information through the desk route: the page, the parameter, the published source and the issue. General praise or complaints about a casino, regulator decision or gambling product cannot be handled as a venue dispute. This site records published hotel data and points readers to official sources.

Dates, headcount and the parameters that matter to you. The desk checks rates and availability with the hotel or a booking partner and replies by email, usually within one working day. No payment details are taken.

The index is free to read and is funded by hotel referrals: if a reader opens a hotel's site from here and books, or asks the query desk to arrange a stay, the publisher receives a commission from the hotel or a booking partner. Scores are computed from published facts, never from commission.
