FAQ
Questions about the index
This page answers common questions about the index, the comparison table and the request desk. The site covers physical Australian casino hotels only. Australia bans online casino play under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, and casino entry is 18+ across all states and territories.

index / FAQ
What does the index measure?
The index compares ten Australian casino hotel properties using published hotel, leisure, dining, entertainment, access and transparency parameters. It is a hotel comparison, not a gambling guide. The ranking is shown on /, the full parameter grid is on /table, and the group results are separated on /scores.
Which properties are included?
The roster is Crown Melbourne, Crown Perth, Crown Sydney, The Star Gold Coast, The Star Brisbane, Wrest Point, Country Club Tasmania, Mindil Beach Casino Resort, Reef Hotel Casino and The Ville Resort-Casino. Each also has a profile under /hotels. Treasury Brisbane is not listed because its casino closed on 25 August 2024.
What does n/p mean in the table?
n/p means not published. It is used when the venue or an accepted source does not publish a parameter in the facts held for the index. A blank is not filled by estimate. If a room count, capacity, pet policy, transport detail or accessibility detail is missing, it stays n/p and counts against transparency.
Why are some figures marked secondary, medium or low confidence?
Source quality is recorded with the data. Venue and regulator pages are preferred. A secondary mark means the figure comes from sources such as Wikipedia, press material or listings. Medium confidence means one authoritative source was available. Low confidence is used for limited evidence, such as a search snippet, and is treated cautiously.
How are scores calculated?
The scoring method is published separately on /method. It groups the parameters and explains how source quality and non-publication affect the result. This FAQ does not repeat the scoring table. The ranking follows the total score, while /scores shows the group breakdown for each property.
How often is the index updated?
The site dates its facts and uses the current fact set when a page is written. Some items are time-sensitive, including licence status, openings, closures, parking rules and venue renovations. If a venue page does not publish a current value, the index does not infer one. Readers can use /about to see how the desk treats dated facts.
Does the site publish prices?
Prices are only used when they are present in the fact set with enough context. Most hotel rates change by date, room type and availability, so they are not estimated. Where the facts do not support a price, the page leaves it out. The desk can check accommodation availability by email through /query.
What does 18+ mean for these properties?
Casino entry is 18+ across all Australian states and territories. Some venues publish that gaming floors or casino areas are 18+. That does not mean every hotel, restaurant, pool or event space is restricted in the same way. The index records the venue’s published wording where available and otherwise applies the country rule for casino entry.
What does the request desk do?
The desk is a secondary option for readers who want a room checked by email. The form asks for practical booking details such as dates, headcount and preferred property or score position. The desk does not take card details. Any booking is between the reader and the hotel or booking partner, as described on /query.
Is the site independent?
The site is an independent casino-hotel review and booking-request website. It is not affiliated with a casino house or regulator. It may earn hotel-booking referral commission through links or the desk, but the index position is not for sale. The earning model is set out on /how-we-earn.
